The Groomsmen
Casey Ploehn
Best Man Casey is my older brother and one of my best friends. Growing up I'm sure he viewed me as his pesky and annoying “little brother.” Once we were both in high school and as Casey went off to college we became a lot closer – even to the point of living together for a few years while I was at the U of MN after Casey graduated. Casey, his wife Katy and their daughter became fond of Jessica early on…especially Emmy…replacing me as her favorite for an extended period of time. Luckily I’m back in Emmy’s good graces though it seems to be a constant battle. Casey has always been the voice of logic and reason when I’ve needed it. I appreciate he and his family so much and am very lucky to have him as my brother. Wyatt "WJ" Johnson
Groomsman Wyatt and I are the best of friends having known each other since we were about 2 feet tall. We were in FFA & 4-H together, played the same sports and always had a fun time. We both went to the U of MN, after our first year at the U we lived together at my grandpa’s house just down the road from my parents. That happened to be one of the best summers I had and probably the most sleep deprived as well. Late nights in Okoboji and early mornings working on the farm, but was always fun to come “home” and play foosball, cards, or watch sports. After we graduated college we lived and worked together for an extended period of time. Jessica and Wyatt play very well off of each other as they are both witty and sarcastic. Wyatt, his wife Micky and their 2 kids mean a lot to me and I'm really lucky to have them all as life-long friends. Josh Polz
Groomsman Josh and I grew up together in Jackson. We were typically always in the same classes, same sports, and same social groups. When I moved to the cities to attend the U, we stayed in close contact and always hung out in the summers when I went back to the farm. We have had plenty of fun times and great memories growing up, our Vegas trip (along with Bobby and Matt), the Vikes game in Arizona, and of course enjoying the Saturday night racing in Jackson during the summer. Josh is getting married in September and Im honored to stand next to him as his best man. Josh, his bride to be Kara, and I treated Jessica to her first ever sprint car race this summer…we had a great time (Jess even said she’d like to go back!) Jeremy Daberkow
Groomsman I knew Jeremy thru FFA and 4-H…but he was the “enemy” since he grew up just outside of Lakefield. However, once we both graduated from high school we both attended the U. Wyatt happened to live a couple rooms down from Jerm in Bailey Hall on the St. Paul campus. And shortly after they both pledged the same fraternity. That’s when I really got to know Jerm and we became fast friends. Both loving the Vikings, playing cards and having the occasional beverage. We lived together for a while in the cities while he taught at AFSA and even had his kids do a bunch of landscaping work for me! Jerm was one of the first friends Jessica got to meet and hang out with an extended period of time…and he didn’t take it easy on her at all, giving her shit from the beginning but also making her feel as welcome as possible. Dave Kanuch
Groomsman I’ve known Dave since grade school. We both grew up on farms and have a love for sports. Even though we aren’t able to see each as often as we’d like, when we do we fall back right into the same old routine. We’ve been through a lot, such as the blizzard our senior year and usually hung out most of the other times snow got in the way of school. Since he’s made his roots in the Fargo area he’s a North Dakota fan and Im a Gopher fan but we can put aside that main difference to remain really good friends. Daniel Kanuch
Groomsman Daniel is the twin brother of Dave (you might be able to tell). I could say most of the same stuff I did previously…he’s a great friend of mine. He resides in Lafayette, MN and I’m able to see him a bit more than Dave but still not often enough. We’ve helped each other over the past several years with house projects and electrical issues. He’s a guy who’s always willing to lend a helping hand and usually knows exactly what to do too. We also share a love for sports, mainly the Vikings and usually play Monday morning quarterback after Vikings games. |
